how to hide assignments in google classroom

As of my last update, Google Classroom does not have a built-in feature to hide assignments from students. However, you can effectively "hide" assignments by controlling the visibility of assignments in the following ways:

  1. Schedule Assignments: Instead of posting assignments immediately, you can schedule them to be released at a later date. This allows you to prepare assignments in advance without students seeing them until the scheduled release date.

  2. Use Topics: Organize your assignments into topics. You can collapse topics that you don't want students to see immediately. This doesn't hide the assignments completely, but it makes them less prominent and accessible to students.

  3. Unassign or Archive Assignments: If you no longer want students to access certain assignments, you can unassign them. This removes the assignment from the student view, but it remains visible to you as the teacher. Alternatively, you can archive old assignments, which removes them from the main stream of assignments but keeps them accessible in the "Archived" section.

  4. Use Draft State: When creating a new assignment, you can save it as a draft without assigning it immediately. This allows you to work on the assignment without it being visible to students. Once you're ready, you can then assign it to your class.

  5. Create Separate Classes or Sections: If you have multiple sections or groups within your class, you can create separate assignments for each group. This allows you to assign different tasks to different groups without all students seeing the same assignments.

While Google Classroom may not have a direct "hide" feature for assignments, these methods allow you to control the visibility and accessibility of assignments to students effectively. Always ensure to communicate any changes or instructions regarding assignments clearly to your students to avoid confusion.
