how to hide assignments in google classroom

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Google Classroom does not have a direct feature to hide or archive assignments. However, you can consider a few alternative approaches to manage assignments:

  1. Unpublish Assignments:

    • While you cannot hide assignments, you can unpublish them. Unpublishing removes the assignment from the Stream and the Classwork page, making it less visible to students. To unpublish an assignment:
      • Open the assignment.
      • Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner.
      • Select "Unpublish."
  2. Move to a Different Topic:

    • Organize your assignments into topics on the Classwork page. If you want to make an assignment less visible, you can move it to a topic that is less prominent or relevant. Students will still have access to the assignment but might be less likely to notice it.
  3. Use Draft State:

    • You can create assignments as drafts and only publish them when you're ready for students to see them. Draft assignments won't be visible to students until you decide to publish them. To use draft state:
      • Create the assignment.
      • Click on "Assign."
      • Choose "Schedule" and set a future date or click "Save" without assigning it immediately.
  4. Archive or Delete Topics (if appropriate):

    • If you use topics to organize your assignments, you can archive or delete entire topics. This effectively hides all assignments within that topic. Keep in mind that this is a broader approach and may not be suitable for all situations.

Please note that Google Classroom features may evolve, and new functionalities may be added after my last update. If there have been changes or if your school has additional features enabled, I recommend checking the official Google Classroom Help Center or contacting your school's IT support for the most up-to-date information and guidance.
